TVC PTA GENERAL ASSOCIATION MEETING
MONDAY, MAY 21, 2012 - 6:00 pm
TVUSD Conference Rooms A, B, & C
TVC PTA will be holding our final association meeting of the school year on MONDAY, MAY 21, at 6:00 pm in TVUSD Conference Rooms A-C at the District Office. Please have the following representatives from your unit present:
- Presidents - Incoming and Outgoing
- Incoming:
- Executive VP (if your unit has one)
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Auditor
- VP Membership
- VP Programs
- VP Ways and Means
- Parliamentarian
- Historian
All other officers will be provided with training opportunities by 23rd District in July (July 21 is the date of the Counterparts Workshops) and August by Council PTA. Our space is limited, so please only invite the unit PTA officers listed above.
TENTATIVE AGENDA:
Association meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. (30 minutes)
We will get some basic business done then recognize our outgoing and incoming Presidents. I have not received rosters from all of you, so please at least let me know if you are returning next year, and if not, who your new President is. I don't want to leave anyone out of the recognition event!
We will adjourn the meeting and begin General Financial Training. (30 minutes)
After Financial training, we will break out into our individual trainings for each exec. officer listed above. This is a great opportunity for your officers to "hit the ground running" and be able to have some valuable information leading into summertime. Also, please make sure your outgoing officers have handed over vital information to your incoming officers prior to the May 21 meeting. This will make the round table trainings for each officer more effective and the information will make a lot more sense.

URGENT MESSAGE FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT KATHY FINK:
APRIL 27, 2012 -- A notice has gone out to all TVUSD Principals today notifying them that our "Pink Slips" are not allowed to be present on school grounds. If we want to get signatures, we need to do it off campus, on the sidewalk or through our PTA websites (as long as they are not hosted by the school district). The Superintendent has been very supportive of this drive, however after a complaint they researched School Board policy and found out that no political materials can be distributed on school property without the "other side" being represented. Regardless of any personal feelings on the subject, we must ensure that any advocacy activities that we pursue are concurrent with school board policy.
Please let your principals know that you are aware of the policy and that any further pink slip drive events will occur outside of the school grounds. The last thing we want to do is create more headaches for our Principals in this very emotional and frustrating time. Thanks so much for all of your efforts!
ALL PTA Members: Send Our Legislators "PINK SLIPS" TVC PTA has e-mailed digital copies of the "pink slips" below to our school-site unit PTA/PTSA presidents for parents to sign. It's our intention to have as many people as possible mail "pink slips" to all of the Assembly Members who represent our districts, as well as to our state Senator and our Governor. We have to make our voices heard, and this is a great way to flood their offices with pink slips and remind them they, too, are not exempt from receiving one!
