About Our PTA...

The Temecula Valley Council of PTAs represents over 12,000 members in the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD). TVC PTA was chartered on June 8, 1989, and is comprised of twenty-six PTA/PTSA Units (school sites). We are one of ten Councils in the 23rd District PTA (Riverside County). Together, with support from the California State PTA, we represent the oldest and strongest child advocacy group in the nation, the National PTA.

Contrary to common belief, PTA does not exist to raise money. The truth is that rarely is there as much support or as much money as any group thinks is needed, whether it is a PTA or some other non-profit organization. The advocacy and interest in the entire school community that a PTA can demonstrate, particularly in issues related to our children, cannot be purchased with dollars.

To that end, our goals for the 2007-2008 year are to work with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and our larger Temecula community to promote:

  • Search Institute's 40 DEVELOPMENTAL ASSETS,
  • REFLECTIONS workshops and participation,
  • SMARTS (Advocacy for the Arts),
  • Increased STUDENT involvement in PTSAs,
  • Community Health Fair, and,
  • Combined programs for elementary, middle, and high school students and their FAMILIES.

This website is intended as a communications tool. Not only for unit presidents, but for ALL unit PTA/PTSA officers! Please check back frequently for important dates, forms and information about upcoming events. We welcome your feedback.

Confused about something you’ve heard? Got a question? We’re only an e-mail or phone call away. Please contact me, any Executive Board Member, or your Council Counterpart if you need information. You may contact any officer of TVC PTA by clicking on the e-mail link HERE.

We have an exciting year ahead of us, and we look forward to working with YOU!

Together, we speak with one voice for every child.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Weersing
2007-2009 President
Temecula Valley Council of PTAs

PROFESSIONAL GOVERNANCE STANDARDS FOR PTAs

The bylaws and standing rules for each PTA provide a framework for the organization. In order to operate effectively using this framework, PTA executive boards and individual board members will benefit from adherence to professional standards of governance.

Professional governance standards specify principles involved in governing responsibly and effectively and were developed to support PTA boards in their efforts to enhance their membership’s and the community’s understanding about the responsibilities of the PTA board.
